YARMOUTH

The picturesque Port of Yarmouth provides a car ferry link to Lymington.

It has its own 700ft long timber pier dating from 1876, which is a Grade II listed building.
552 deck planks record the names of those who helped fund the pier's restoration in the 1990s.

The Pier is also a great place to go fishing. Trips leave from there for various destinations, and in the summer months. You can also take a trip on the Waverley which is an old paddle steamer, offering trips around the Island.

It is a bustling town which has an active community all year round.

The square has a varied range of shops and delightful eating establishments.

The annual Old Gaffers Festival which is held in late May and early June is one of the largest events held on the Isle of Wight. More than 100 'Old Gaffers' participate in the event which is complimented by shore based entertainment.

Yarmouth Carnival, which is held in the Town Square every year in August, includes a procession throughout the town with floats, music and parades.

Covering the western end of the Solent, Yarmouth lifeboat station operates the largest class of lifeboat, the Severn class. Seventeen awards for gallantry have been presented to the crew.
